The new norm, Market domination by one Player
In today’s world the new norm seems to be that of market domination by one company. We have been talking about it with Search and we all know who is the market leader there.
For some time we’ve been saying the same thing would take place in the mobile world as well. At last night’s Mobile Monday event in Boulder we heard from the market leader of Mobile Giving for Non Profits what their market share is… 94%
Mobile is segmented down into many different verticals and several of those are still up for grabs.
What is effective marketing?
Simply this: when we empower and motivate someone to take action in the way that helps our objective, we increase our effectiveness as leaders.

Text Coupon
A text coupon is becoming the more effective and “green” way for businesses to offer coupons to consumers. Often times when a business is marketing via text message, it will provide a special offer to consumers to get them to opt in. Once the consumer has opted in, they will receive this cell phone coupon right to their phone instead of going through the hassle of cutting it out and remembering to bring it at time of purchase.
A text coupon has huge potential for businesses’ advertising efforts. It offers the ability to target market to specific audiences—only those who are interested in the product and have opted into the service. A company will not waste money on printing coupons that go out to anyone and everyone. Also, as most people carry their cell phone at all times, there will be more of a chance they will have the cell phone coupon at time of purchase.
There are different ways to use these text coupons. For instance, a customer might receive an SMS with a numeric coupon code which will then be entered into the store register when a purchase is actually finalized. Another way is through MMS, whereby the customer can show the coupon to the cashier who would scan the barcode on the image.
Because a text coupon is delivered right to a consumer’s phone, it is also more environmentally friendly than printable coupons. A person will have only those coupons that they want and all stored in their handheld device. A text coupon is more convenient and with the rise of smartphones, are the marketing wave of the near future.

Texting
Texting has become an indispensable medium of communication today. Many people simply cannot live without text messaging, and the convenience that it brings to our lives is incomparable. Most, if not all, think of their cell phone as an essential daily tool that they can never go out without, and its importance has become very apparent with the never-ending production of new cell phones that are popping onto the market today.
SMS, which stands for short messaging service, refers to the short text messages that are being exchanged through cell phones. Several years ago, this term covered only text messages but now it also includes messages that contain all sorts of media – from images, sounds, and videos. Now more commonly called as MMS, these messages are important tools of communication and provide people with easier and faster dissemination of information.
Texting today is not only used for personal communication purposes where one cell phone user can pass on a message in limited characters to another via a cell phone. Because of its prevalence and the huge number of people that it has access to, texting is now commonly used to distribute information such as news updates, promotional offers and other forms of marketing and information sharing. Businesses also use text messaging for practical business purposes such as confirming deliveries, instant communication between client and service provider and many more.
Texting has a number of uses that are starting to shape the world today. From carrying mission-critical information, to content delivery, donations and even entertainment uses (e.g. TV voting). It has become a powerful tool that is used by a variety of companies, charities and business organizations today.
