No. 2 “Applying Makeup”
You’ve used Qittle’s Q.tips to clean the ears of your customers so that you are able to communicate effectively with them. What else? You can also use Q.tips to apply makeup to their face (book that is!). This Q.tip No. 2 is all about socializing and looking as pretty as possible to enter that popular club where all of your customers are dancing. There are hundreds of social networking sites where individuals sign up and connect with each other. Social networking is another way to reach your customers and drive them to opt into your already growing database of mobile numbers.

Not up to date on the social scene? Here’s a summary of a few top players:

Facebook‘s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. Millions of people use Facebook everyday to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Twitter. A real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices, Twitter asks one question, “What are you doing?” Answers must be under 140 characters in length and can be sent via mobile texting, instant message or the web.

YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips on the YouTube website and across the Internet through other websites, mobile devices, blogs and email.
Consider these statistics: The number of minutes spent on social networks in the U.S. rose 83% in April 2009 from the same month a year ago according to Nielsen Online.
The total number of minutes spent on Facebook surged 700% YOY to 13.9 billion in April 2009 from 1.7 billion a year ago, making it the No. 1 social network for the fourth consecutive month. (Reuters, June 2, 2009).
It’s a big party! So slap on some makeup to your brand, join in and reap the rewards. By including your brand on social networking sites, your information is easily viewed by many and virally disseminated.
Social networking sees more traffic than email or Internet searches. Unlike other forms of marketing, however, the emphasis should be on the quality of followers and not quantity. Followers are weary of marketing speak so assess your target audience and dress up your page with something fun; put some creativity into it. Make it interactive with contests, mobile voting, videos. Remember to include your SMS calls to action!
The social networking fad will run its course like everything else. But if you jump on the bandwagon while it’s hot, you could grow your mobile contact database for use well beyond the death of the tweet and blog.
Let Qittle help you set up your social networking presence on the 40 most active networks. Once those are set up, you can update your status on all 40 at the same time with a click of a button, right from your Qittle account. Call us now to get started.
